Missionary Lenell Smith

Lenell's Testimony:

I am truly grateful for my parents that have raised me in a Christian home.  I had made a profession of faith at age 4, but lived many years with much doubt of my true salvation.  On January 13, 1991, at the age of 12, I surrendered my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ as my savior.  I realized that it was not my family, church membership, or good deeds that would take me to Heaven; but the shed blood of Jesus to cleanse my sins, give me a new heart, and a new eternal destination.

"Ye are the light of the world.  A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."   Matthew 5:14-16

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children,

and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

God's Direction:

I first surrendered my life to full-time Christian service at the age of 14.  As a senior in high school, my church youth group took a missions trip to Mexico.  During this time, God burdened my heart for the mission field.  I surrendered to do His will for my life.  I went on to graduate from college in 2000 with my B.S.E. in Early Childhood Education and began teaching.  In 2001, God burdened my heart specifically for orphans.  Later the next year, God directed me toward helping establish on orphanage in Anyama, Ivory Coast, under the direction of veteran missionary Tom Vineyard.  After three years of teaching, I left Missouri for Oklahoma Baptist College to train for the mission field.

The Vision:

In September to October of 2004, God allowed me to take a survey trip to Anyama, Ivory Coast.  My eyes were opened to the great need for an orphanage in this area.  It is my goal to raise support and leave for language shcool by August of 2006 and Ivory Coast following language school.  My priority during the first term will be establishing Hope Harbor Orphanage, a ministry of the Fundamental Baptist Church of Anyama.  #1 goal: See the orphanage opened and housing orphans during my first term.
